Matthew Russell, CPA

Born and raised in Texas, I joined the Army in 2008 as a combat medic. After deploying to Iraq, I was stationed in Hawaii, where I served as an Army surgical technician for labor and delivery. When my contract ended, I came home to Houston, enrolled at the University of Houston, and earned a BBA in Accounting. While there, I was elected treasurer of our Student Veterans of America chapter and was part of the team chosen to travel to the national conference in Florida, where our chapter received the Chapter of the Year award.

In the eight years since, I have worked in public accounting with a special focus on nonprofit and homeowners association clients, handling their accounting, audit, and tax work. That path has taken me across the full range of the profession, from a Big 4 firm serving large multinational public companies, to mid market firms with substantial clients, to homeowners associations of every size. Both are niches that most firms treat as an afterthought, and one I have spent my career learning inside and out.

Between the Army and public accounting, I have learned the same lesson again and again: clear and timely communication makes all the difference. Late answers and missed updates turn small issues into real problems, while a quick and honest conversation keeps everything on track. If we work together, I commit to giving each and every one of my clients the clear and timely communication they deserve, so you are never left wondering where things stand.
